We are seeking a full-time Senior Director of Communications who will provide strategic vision, leadership, and oversight for the Communications Department and support its marketing portfolio to raise the visibility of the HAVI and advance the public discourse around violence as a public health issue that disproportionately impacts communities of color. National travel (10%) is expected for this position.Position Description:The Health Alliance for Violence Intervention (HAVI) envisions a world where communities end violence and foster healing. Our mission is to reduce violence, particularly in communities of color, by advancing hospital-based violence intervention programs (HVIPs) and coordinated, community-led systems that heal trauma and promote equity.The Senior Director of Communications will be responsible for executing a strategic communications plan for the HAVI, in collaboration with communications staff and key stakeholders. The Senior Director will oversee the implementation of large-scale initiatives focused on equipping the CVI field with the tools to effect narrative change and will play a key role in securing resources for the HAVI's communications efforts.This is an exempt, full-time position with a salary range of $130,000 to $140,000 based on experience and internal equity factors. National travel (10%) is expected for this position. The Senior Director will report to the Managing Director of the Policy and Communications Division or their designee.Duties and Responsibilities:Management

  • Oversee the Communications team, including the supervision of at least 4 FTE Communications staff as well as potential vendors and contractors.
  • Lead and contribute to the execution of a communications strategy and plan that raises visibility of the HAVI and advances the organization's strategic goals.
  • Lead a national narrative change initiative focused on equipping the community violence intervention field to shift mindsets about the causes of and solutions for community violence by aligning around and distributing accurate, empowering stories.
  • Drive departmental activities such as budgeting, work planning, staff development, and internal cross-departmental coordination.
  • Monitor and analyze trends and metrics to inform communication and marketing strategy and activities.Candidate Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree and at least 10 years of experience in communication and management.
    • Proven work experience as a Communications Director or similar role.
    • Strong skills in relationship management and engaging diverse stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with communications technologies and platforms.
    • Ability to craft effective and impactful messages and adapt them for different audiences.
    • Deep commitment to and passion for the vision and mission of the HAVI.
